San Francisco Math Teachers’ Circle
December 11 @ 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
Facilitators: Anna Weltman and Graham Gordon
What makes a square so square? And what makes one rectangle more square than another? Maybe those questions sound simple, but like many simple math questions they lead to some interesting places! Explore squareness, rectangleness, and other ways to order and measure polygons in this session.
Please RSVP with this form by Wednesday 8 Dec 2021.
Proof School, like most schools, has a strict health protocol, and we will ask for proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours. We will also take your temperature and require masks indoors. There will be coffee, tea, and bagels, but we ask that you only take off masks while eating and drinking, not talking. If you came in October with proof of vaccination, we recorded this so we can expedite your entry.
We plan to provide lunch, but to facilitate socializing, we will try to find a way to eat outside, either at the Kapwa gardens next door or Yerba Buena Gardens a few blocks away, weather permitting (YBG worked pretty well in October). If the weather is nasty we will eat inside, which will be warmer but maskier.
Proof School is located on Mission Street between 5th and 6th. There’s cheap metered street parking across the street (you’ll need to refresh the meter after 2 hours) and more expensive parking at the Fifth and Mission garage at…guess! And BART and buses are nearby.
All teachers at all levels are welcome. Feel free to share this invitation with others. Our events are free (including lunch).
