One math circle can't appeal to students of all ages, so the Washington University circle has focused on the interests of students in the 8th through 12th grade. Anyone is welcome to attend, including parents.
We are partners with the Missouri ARML team. Missouri ARML, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to providing a forum for students to study challenging mathematics, to engage in sophisticated problem solving, and to prepare a team to represent Missouri at the National Tournament of the American Regions Mathematics League (ARML). Students do not need to be a member of the Missouri ARML team to participate in or enjoy ARML practices.
Our sessions are split between stand alone topics and ARML presentations with problem sets. Previous talks have covered number theory, advanced counting techniques, Euclidean geometry, problem solving strategies and more.
