Northwest Academy of Sciences currently operates three Mathematical Circles. Our "Senior" circle was created in 2002, it started with students age 10-12. It has been in operation for 7 years, and our students are quite advanced in a lot of mathematical subjects. See curriculum for details. Our "Junior" circle started in 2005, and is has been in operation for 4 years. Our "youngest" circle has just started in Fall 2008.
In our circles, we try to balance learning of mathematical theory and problem-solving techniques. We also devote a lot of class time to "fun" part - mathematical games and competitions.
It is our philosophy to provide the students with opportunities to bond together outside classroom. We regularly organize hiking trips, theater trips etc.
