The New York Math Circle offers interested students an opportunity to develop reasoning and problem solving skills through exploration of Mathematics. Students encounter a wide range of topics, solve challenging problems, make exciting discoveries, and meet fascinating people. Exceptional instructors teach intriguing and challenging, yet very accessible Mathematics in an informal and friendly atmosphere. We call it a rich mathematical experience.
During the school year, we offer math circles for students both in Manhattan at New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematics, and in Queens at Queens College. We also run a 3-week High School Summer Program.
For information on our current student math circles, please visit our student page.
In addition to student math circles, NYMC offers courses for teachers, intended to encourage and support excellent teaching of mathematics. The courses are led by highly experienced instructors recognized for their record of outstanding teaching. All courses address both content and methods, and include a wealth of problems and examples. The sessions combine lecture, workshop, and interactive classroom discussion. We also offer a 1-week math immersion summer workshop at Bard College in the mid-Hudson Valley that attracts teachers from all over, especially New York City and the mid-Hudson Valley. All teachers are welcome.
